FED: Zero tolerance policing not whole answer AIC

CANBERRA, Feb 4 AAP - Zero tolerance policing was not a complete answer to crime and
heavy-handed law enforcement could lead to police being viewed as an occupying army, the
Australian Institute of Criminology said today.

In a warning not to slavishly adopt US law and order programs, Institute criminologist
Peter Grabosky said Australia was different from the United States and over zealous law
enforcement could destroy community trust in police.
