NSW: Firefighters union and bosses discuss latest offer

The industrial dispute involving New South Wales firefighters has moved closer to a
resolution -- although some disagreements remain.

The firefighters' union agreed in the Industrial Relations Commission in Sydney today to
withdraw bans that have prevented hundreds of personnel from fighting fires.

And the NSW Fire Brigades has put a new offer to the union in its claim for improved death
and disability entitlements.

The parties are meeting in conciliation this afternoon and are due to report back to the
full bench later today.
